VERO BEACH, Fla. (June 8, 2018) — Indian River Medical Center, the Indian River County Hospital District and Cleveland Clinic are proceeding as expected with the careful pace that is necessary and normal for healthcare relationships.
While this continues to be the “quiet period,” the community should be aware that the due diligence process is moving forward as expected and all parties continue to work toward a definitive agreement in July. Once that has been completed, there will be regulatory review and approval before this is complete.
“We are pleased with the progress so far and the atmosphere has been excellent as we move this very exciting venture forward,” stated IRMC Board Chair Dr. Wayne Hockmeyer.
“The most important work is well underway,” said IRCHD Chair Marybeth Cunningham. “We realize there is a great deal of curiosity and excitement in the community, so I’m happy to report that everything is moving in the right direction.”
“All three groups are working together to ensure the community, patients and caregivers all have access to the best we offer,” said Wael Barsoum, M.D., CEO and President, Cleveland Clinic Florida. “This is moving along nicely and the spirit of our discussions has been very positive.”
As a partner with Cleveland Clinic this promises to encourage economic development in the local community, as well as aid in recruiting businesses to Indian River County. In addition, philanthropy for IRMC is likely to increase as individuals will recognize their contribution to a world-class healthcare organization.
IRMC will continue to provide updates as available. For more information, please visit www.IRMCTomorrow.com
